Do pet hotels require vaccinations?

Based on information gathered from facilities in our directory, virtually all reputable pet hotels require proof of vaccinations for the safety of all animals in their care. For dogs, most facilities require rabies, distemper/parvo (DHPP), and Bordetella (kennel cough) vaccinations. For cats, rabies and FVRCP (feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, and panleukopenia) are typically required. Vaccination requirements vary by region and individual facility policies, with some also requiring canine influenza, leptospirosis, or other vaccines depending on local risk factors. Most establishments require vaccinations to be current and administered at least 1-2 weeks before check-in to ensure immunity has developed. Documentation typically needs to come from a licensed veterinarian. Some facilities may make exceptions for pets with medical conditions that prevent vaccination, but these generally require a veterinary exemption letter and may involve additional precautions or isolation. We recommend confirming specific vaccination requirements directly with your chosen facility well before your planned stay, as requirements can change and vary significantly between establishments.
